What is an HSA or FSA?
In the U.S., a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) lets you use pre-tax income to pay for eligible health-related services or programs. Coachbit is now officially approved as an eligible mental-health and behavioral-coaching service, meaning you can use your HSA or FSA funds to pay for your student’s coaching plan.
What is Flex and how is it connected to Coachbit?
Coachbit has partnered with Flex, a payment platform that securely processes HSA and FSA transactions.
When you select Flex during checkout, your payment is processed through your health-benefit account instead of a regular credit card.
How to Pay with HSA/FSA
How do I pay with my HSA or FSA card?
Your Learning Strategist will send you a magic link to activate your child’s plan.
When you click Activate Plan, you’ll be redirected to the Flex checkout page (instead of Stripe).
Choose “Pay with HSA/FSA” and enter your HSA or FSA debit-card details.
Complete a short eligibility form (including your name, date of birth, and condition, usually ADHD).
Once complete, Flex automatically generates a Letter of Medical Necessity and submits it on your behalf.
What if I don’t have my HSA/FSA card available?
You can still select “Flex | Pay with HSA/FSA” and use a regular credit or debit card.
Flex will email you an itemized receipt and Letter of Medical Necessity, which you can submit to your HSA/FSA provider for reimbursement.
Why is my HSA/FSA card being declined?
Most HSA/FSA declines are due to insufficient funds in the account.
Please check your balance or contact your plan administrator to confirm available funds.
Can I split the payment across multiple HSA/FSA cards?
Not at this time. If there aren’t enough funds in one account, you can pay with a regular card and request reimbursement later using the receipt from Flex.
Letter of Medical Necessity (LOMN)
What is a Letter of Medical Necessity?
The IRS requires certain wellness or behavioral-health services to be accompanied by a doctor’s note (a “Letter of Medical Necessity”) to qualify for HSA/FSA payment.
Normally, you’d need to get this from your doctor — but with Flex, it’s handled automatically during checkout through a secure telehealth form.
Do I need to do anything to get the letter?
No. Flex generates and stores the letter for you once you complete the short form during checkout. You’ll receive a copy by email for your records.
Do I need to send the letter anywhere?
Keep it for your own records (at least three years) in case your HSA/FSA provider or the IRS requests proof of eligibility.
I entered my information incorrectly on the form. Can it be updated?
Yes. Please email [email protected] with your corrected details, and Flex can reissue your Letter of Medical Necessity.
Reimbursement & Receipts
I didn’t receive my Flex receipt or Letter of Medical Necessity.
Check your spam folder for an email from [email protected].
If it’s not there, email [email protected] and include the email used at checkout.
My HSA/FSA claim was denied. What should I do?
Forward the message from your HSA/FSA provider to [email protected], and we’ll work with Flex to resolve the issue or provide updated documentation.
Can I apply for reimbursement next year?
HSA: Yes, reimbursements can typically be made anytime.
FSA: Usually no. Purchases must be made within your coverage year. Check with your FSA administrator for your plan’s deadlines.
